Machilipatnam, March 31 -- In a freak incident, four police personnel, including a sub-inspector of police, were injured when the seized firecrackers exploded accidentally in Challapalli police station in Krishna district.
Police said that they were bringing out a huge quantity of firecrackers seized in a raid while being manufactured illegally, to destroy them on a court order. The firecrackers accidentally fell down and exploded.
Sub-inspector Durga Veeranjaneyulu, head constable Teja, court constable Abdullah, and driver Nagaraju suffered injuries in the blast. The sub-inspector and court constable were admitted to a private hospital here. A police vehicle and furniture were also damaged in the blast.
