Mumbai, June 11 -- Guardian Minister and Minister for Information Technology & Cultural Affairs, Adv. Asish Shelar has directed officials to register an FIR against an advertising company for allegedly pruning as many as 63 trees in the New Link Road area of suburban Andheri (West) to provide better visibility to hoardings.

The matter was brought to his attention through a written complaint submitted by local corporator Rupesh Sawarkar.

A large number of tree branches were reportedly cut to enhance the visibility of advertisement hoardings along the New Link Road. The issue was also raised by the corporator during a meeting held on Thursday at the Mumbai Suburban District Collector's office.
