Vijayapura (Karnataka), June 15 -- A major admission fee scam is suspected to have rocked Karnataka State Akkamahadevi Women's University in Vijayapura, with allegations that fake fee receipts were used and lakhs of rupees collected from students never reached the university's accounts, triggering an official probe.
The alleged fraud, spanning the 2023-24, 2024-25 and 2025-26 academic years, involves admission fees paid by students enrolled in the Department of Drama and several postgraduate courses. University authorities suspect that funds collected from students were diverted instead of being deposited in the institution's bank account.
