Washington, May 30 -- A federal judge has temporarily blocked the Trump administration from moving forward with its controversial $1.776 billion "anti-weaponisation" fund. The move dealt a significant setback to the controversial programme, which was designed to compensate people who claim they were unfairly targeted by the government.
In an order issued on Friday, Leonie Brinkema directed the US Justice Department to pause all further action related to the fund, including transferring money into it.
The ruling further prevents the DOJ from reviewing claims already submitted or distributing any payments while the legal challenge proceeds.
As per Brinkema, the restrictions were necessary to ensure that no money is "irreversibly disbursed"...
