Mumbai, Oct. 10 -- The Maharashtra Food and Drug Administration (FDA) has seized 74,612 kg of edible oil worth over Rs 1.28 crore during a special inspection drive covering 25 establishments in five districts of Pune Division ahead of the festive season.
The action was carried out on October 9 to verify the quality of edible oil available in the market and check compliance with food safety norms, an official release said on Saturday.
FDA Commissioner Tukaram Mundhe said samples of the seized oil would be sent to laboratories for analysis and further legal action would be initiated based on the findings.
