Bhubaneswar, July 7 -- The State Excise Department on Tuesday busted an alleged drug trafficking racket in Bhubaneswar, arresting a father-son duo and seizing 262 grams of brown sugar valued at around Rs 26 lakh.
The arrests were made after excise officials intercepted a luxury vehicle during a raid at Mainshikhal Basti under the Badagada police limits.
The contraband was recovered from the vehicle, officials said.
According to the Excise Department, the brown sugar was sourced from Murshidabad district in West Bengal and smuggled into Odisha through Balasore, which has emerged as a key transit point for drug trafficking networks.
