Chandigarh, Jan. 24 -- A Faridabad court has sent a man to one-day police remand in connection with the death of his four-and-a-half-year-old daughter, who was allegedly beaten to death for failing to write numbers up to 50, police said.

The accused, identified as Krishna Jaiswal, was arrested earlier by the Sector-56 Crime Branch and produced before a local court, which granted police custody to allow further interrogation and reconstruction of events.

According to investigators, the incident occurred in the Ballabgarh area when the accused was alone at home with his children while his wife was at work. Police said he was teaching his daughter to write numbers and allegedly lost his temper when she could not complete the task, leading to...
