Bengaluru, July 22 -- Farmers' outfit Samyukta Horata Karnataka (SHK) on Wednesday alleged that a recently dismissed public interest litigation (PIL) against the proposed Bidadi Township project was part of a calculated attempt to sabotage the ongoing agitation against land acquisition, claiming "vested real estate interests" were behind the move.
Addressing a press conference here, SHK leaders said the PIL, which challenged the notification proposing acquisition of 518 acres for the township and was dismissed by the Karnataka High Court, was a "defective" petition designed to weaken the farmers' legal battle rather than protect their interests.
