Chandrapur, Nov. 10 -- : A 62-year-old farmer was killed in a suspected tiger attack near Mendki village under the Brahmapuri Forest Division in Chandrapur district of Maharashtra, officials said on Monday.
The deceased has been identified as Bhaskar Govinda Gajbhiye, a resident of Mendki.
According to preliminary information, Gajbhiye had gone alone to his paddy field on Sunday evening to collect straw used for bundling the harvested crop.
When he failed to return home by night, villagers launched a search on Monday morning.
They reportedly found his bicycle and a bundle of paddy straw near the roadside, and later discovered his mutilated body parts scattered nearby.
