Chandrapur, June 27 -- : The investigation into the alleged international kidney-selling racket in Maharashtra's Chandrapur district has taken a new turn, with police registering a case of illegal moneylending against BJP worker and businessman Diwakar Nikure for allegedly charging exorbitant interest from a farmer who sold his kidney to repay debts, officials said on Saturday.

Police said the case was registered after financial investigations revealed transactions of around Rs 8 lakh between Nikure and Roshan Kule, a farmer from Minthur village in Nagbhid tehsil, who allegedly sold one of his kidneys in Cambodia.
