Wardha, July 17 -- : A farm labourer has been arrested in connection with brutal murder of a 12-year-old girl in Maharashtra's Wardha district, officials said on Friday.
He suspected the minor was also sexually assaulted before being bludgeoned to death with a stone.
The girl's body was found at her home on Wednesday evening under jurisdiction of the Sawangi police station area, with her head smashed with a stone, Superintendent of Police Saurav Kumar Agrawal told reporters.
Rahul Raju Madavi (30) been arrested for his alleged involvement in the murder, he said.
Agrawal said the accused, who was known to the victim's family, worked as a farm labourer on a farm near their house.
