Hyderabad, July 28 -- Telangana BJP president N Ramchander Rao on Tuesday alleged that the Congress government's decision to issue Family Register Certificates through MeeSeva was a backdoor attempt to legalise Rohingya and Bangladeshi immigrants and protect illegal vote banks.

In a statement, he claimed the move was introduced at the behest of AIMIM during the ongoing Special Intensive Revision (SIR) of electoral rolls and raised serious constitutional, electoral and national security concerns.

Rao alleged that the certificates were being projected as valid documents to help "undocumented people" remain on the voters' list.
