Ghazipur, April 5 -- A criminal gang inspired by the Bollywood film 'Special 26' has been exposed in Ghazipur district. The gang posed as Income Tax and GST officials to extort money from local traders.
Alert businessmen in Shadiyabad and Saidpur areas grew suspicious of the group's behavior and eventually caught three members red-handed during a fake raid. The accused were then handed over to the police, while the mastermind, Saras Kumar Gupta, managed to escape.
Police on Sunday revealed that the gang consisted of 7-8 members, including a woman. They would enter shops pretending to be government officials, threaten traders with penalties and legal action, and extort large sums of money.
