Lucknow/ Varanasi, March 19 -- On the first day of Chaitra Navratri, a huge crowd of devotees gathered at the major Devi temples of Uttar Pradesh.

By 9 am alone, more than 4 lakh devotees had visited the Maa Vindhyavasini temple, creating an atmosphere of devotion and enthusiasm in the entire area. Meanwhile, the government has made tight security arrangements around the temples.

At the Devipatan temple in Balrampur, approximately 100,000 devotees have visited the mother goddess since morning. Similarly, over 50,000 devotees have reached the Shakumbhari Devi temple in Saharanpur.
