Mumbai, Sept. 15 -- Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis launched a sharp attack on the Opposition over criticism of union Home Minister Amit Shah's remarks describing Maharashtra as a multilingual state, saying the controversy would not have arisen if they had cared to listen to Shah's entire speech.
Fadnavis said Shah had spoken about the pride and importance of the Marathi language and had acknowledged that Maharashtra is home to people speaking several languages. "Does that mean Marathi does not exist?" he asked, accusing the Opposition of selectively listening to statements and then criticising them.
