Mumbai, Oct. 17 -- Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis on Saturday asserted that the Indian Constitution, drafted under the leadership of Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar, empowers Parliament to take decisions and provides a constitutional framework for governing the country.

"This is India, not Pakistan, Bangladesh, Sri Lanka or Nepal. They do not have the Constitution given to us by Bharat Ratna Dr. Babasaheb Ambedkar. As long as we have this Constitution, Parliament will take decisions. Our Constitution has that strength," Fadnavis said.

He was speaking at a function in Mumbai where two booklets, Smart Nagrik and Vidyarthi Prerana, prepared for students of Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) schools, were released.
