Hyderabad, Aug. 11 -- Telangana Backward Classes Commission Chairman G Niranjan has urged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to expedite the process of including 40 Telangana communities in the Central Other Backward Classes (OBC) List, citing the long delay and the upcoming Census 2027.
In a letter to the Prime Minister, Niranjan said the issue had already been brought to his attention on April 13, 2026. Following an earlier representation, the union ministry of Social Justice and Empowerment sought details of the communities, after which the Telangana BC Commission forwarded the list of 40 communities to the Centre on July 18, 2026.
