Hyderabad, March 7 -- Telangana Agriculture Minister Tummala Nageswara Rao on Saturday directed officials to examine the feasibility of transferring subsidy funds related to agricultural mechanisation directly into the bank accounts of farmers from the next financial year.

During a review meeting with senior Agriculture Department officials here, the minister asked them to prepare the necessary procedures for implementing the system. At present, 40 per cent subsidy for farm equipment purchased by farmers is paid to companies, and the government is considering transferring the subsidy directly to farmers' accounts.
