Ahilyanagar, Nov. 10 -- Ahead of the local body elections, former minister Shankarrao Gadakh, who had stood firmly with Uddhav Thackeray during the Shiv Sena split, has parted ways with the Thackeray faction of the party.
Gadakh will now contest the local self-government elections under the banner of his own party, the Krantikari Shetkari Paksha. Gadakh, a prominent leader from Ahilyanagar district, had served as the Water Resources Minister during the Maha Vikas Aghadi government.
He represented the Nevasa Assembly constituency, and in the last assembly elections, he contested on the 'Mashaal' (torch) symbol but faced defeat. Despite that, he had remained loyal to Uddhav Thackeray even after Eknath Shinde's rebellion.
