Kolkata, June 19 -- Former West Bengal minister and veteran Trinamool Congress (TMC) leader Jyotipriya Mallick on Friday announced his decision to resign from all party posts, citing serious health concerns.
Mallick, a founding member of the TMC and a long-time associate of party chairperson Mamata Banerjee, said deteriorating health had made it difficult for him to continue discharging organisational responsibilities.
"My blood sugar level is above 350, and my kidneys have been affected. In this condition, I am unable to remain actively associated with party work. Therefore, I have decided to relinquish all posts," Mallick said.
Sources in the party said that he has already conveyed his decision to Banerjee through a letter.
