Prayagraj, July 16 -- The Allahabad High Court has granted bail to former Chhattisgarh Excise Commissioner Niranjan Das in the alleged liquor scam worth Rs 2,161 crore in Chhattisgarh.
The court granted relief to Niranjan Das in the FIR lodged in Noida, Uttar Pradesh, related to Chhattisgarh's highly controversial liquor scam.
Granting bail to Niranjan Das, the court stated that merely having a criminal history is not sufficient to justify his arrest. An accused cannot be denied bail on this basis.
Niranjan Das is accused of being involved in formulating the state's excise policy and tender process.
Earlier in May 2026, the Supreme Court had granted bail to applicant Niranjan Das in both the main case and the PMLA.
