Srinagar, Aug. 30 -- The Economic Offences Wing, formerly Crime Branch Kashmir, is carrying out searches at six locations in Kashmir in connection with a racket involving fake promises of MBBS admissions in Bangladesh.
The action followed a complaint alleging that a group of individuals collected hefty sums of money from students and their families on the pretext of arranging medical seats abroad. However, investigators found that the money was never deposited with any college.
"Preliminary investigation has substantiated allegations of fraud. The accused had lured aspiring medical students with false assurances of securing admissions in Bangladesh," an official of EoW said.
