Lucknow, June 25 -- Lambasting the Congress on Thursday, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath said the imposition of Emergency was a direct attack on democracy and the dreams of Baba Saheb.
"Congress had committed the sin of imposing the Emergency in order to remain in power. Today, the entire country remembers the dark day of June 25, 1975, when Congress strangled the democracy of the nation. To remain in power and to prevent the implementation of the court's order, Indira Gandhi attempted to snatch away the rights of citizens, '' the Chief Minister said while addressing the 'Loktantra Senani Samman Samaroh' organised here on the 51st anniversary of the Emergency as 'Samvidhan Hatya Diwas'.
