Kolkata, March 16 -- In a significant administrative reshuffle ahead of the upcoming West Bengal Assembly elections, the Election Commission of India has directed the removal of the state's Chief Secretary and Home Secretary.
The directive comes as part of the Commission's review of poll preparedness for the 2026 Assembly elections in the state.
According to an official communication issued by the Commission on March 15, the present Chief Secretary of West Bengal, Nandini Chakraborty, and the current Home Secretary, Jagdish Prasad Meena, have been removed from their posts with immediate effect.
