Ch. Sambhajinagar, Aug. 26 -- The Election Commission of India has issued a show-cause notice to the Panthers Republican Party, seeking an explanation for its proposed removal from the list of registered political parties due to prolonged inactivity.

The notice cites Section 29A of the Representation of the People Act, 1951, under which the party was originally registered.

According to a press release issued by the DIO, official records indicate the party has failed to contest any elections - including Lok Sabha polls, state legislative assembly elections, or by-elections - over the past six years, constituting a failure to function as per registration requirements.
