Bagalkote, March 30 -- "Elect Umesh Meti for HY Meti's soul to rest in peace," Karnataka Chief Minister Siddaramaiah said on Monday, making an emotional appeal to voters in the Bagalkote Assembly by-election while linking the contest to the legacy of the late leader.

Campaigning in Sutagundar, Nayanegali and surrounding villages, Siddaramaiah invoked H.Y. Meti's contribution to the region, stating that the proposed medical college in Bagalkote was the result of his sustained efforts. Positioning the bypoll as a continuation of that legacy, he urged voters to back Congress candidate Umesh Meti.
