Mumbai, Aug. 5 -- An elderly woman allegedly died after jumping from the 21st floor of a high-rise residential building in neighbouring Thane city on Wednesday, police said.
The deceased was identified as Kumuda Shetty, mother of Prashant Shetty, a senior vice-president with the Tata Group.
The incident took place at the Savanna building, located in the Vasant Lawns residential complex behind Jupiter Hospital in Thane.
The premises fall under the jurisdiction of the Vartak Nagar Police Station.
According to preliminary information available to the police, Shetty was inside her flat before the incident.
She reportedly removed her mangalsutra and kept it inside the residence shortly before allegedly jumping from the high-rise.
