Mahabaleshwar (Satara), June 11 -- Amidst heightened political activity in the state, Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde arrived at his native village, Dare, in Mahabaleshwar taluka late last night following the conclusion of his official tour to New Delhi.

Official sources described the visit as "personal." However, the timing of the Deputy Chief Minister's retreat-coinciding with ongoing discussions regarding Legislative Council elections and shifting political alignments, has triggered intense speculation in political circles.

According to information gathered, Shinde reached Pune by a special aircraft from the national capital before proceeding directly to Dare by road.
