Kolhapur, May 25 -- Eight people were killed on the spot after a car plunged into a 900-foot-deep gorge in the Ambenali Ghat section on the Mahabaleshwar-Poladpur road in Raigad district Sunday night.
The highway police launched a rescue operation immediately after receiving information about the accident.
Mahabaleshwar Trekkers and the Pratapgad Search and Rescue Team also joined the rescue efforts. Bodies of three victims have been recovered from the valley so far.
