Cairo, April 25 -- Egypt has succeeded in becoming a "security oasis" in the Middle East despite significant regional challenges, President Abdel Fattah El-Sisi said on Saturday.

In a video message marking the 44th anniversary of Sinai Liberation, El-Sisi said Egypt had chosen a path of development and nation-building over the past decade, managing to navigate multiple crises while preserving stability.

"Egypt has managed to overcome crisis after crisis and maintain stability, becoming a security oasis in the Middle East," he said.

He also noted that disruptions in the Bab el-Mandeb Strait since late 2023 have cost the Suez Canal an estimated $10 billion in losses due to reduced shipping activity.
