Hyderabad, May 15 -- Telangana Director General of Police C V Anand on Friday said the state police department would move towards a model of "Effective Policing," combining strong law enforcement with a people-friendly approach.
Addressing the Way2 News Conclave-2026 in Hyderabad, the DGP said courteous behaviour towards complainants visiting police stations was an essential part of effective policing.
He also stressed the need for the police department to modernise itself to tackle emerging challenges such as narcotics, cybercrime, and road safety.
Expressing concern over rising drug abuse in educational institutions, Anand said the government was considering making Anti-Drug Committees mandatory in schools, colleges, and universities. ...
