Chandigarh, April 15 -- The Enforcement Directorate (ED) on Wednesday launched a massive search operation at several premises belonging to the Lovely Group in Jalandhar and Phagwara. The high-profile group is headed by Ashok Mittal, a senior Aam Aadmi Party leader, Member of Parliament, and Deputy Leader in Rajya Sabha.
The raids, conducted by a specialized team from Delhi, are reportedly part of an ongoing investigation into suspected violations of the Foreign Exchange Management Act (FEMA).
The Central agency's operation targeted multiple business wings of the conglomerate, with simultaneous searches conducted at Lovely Professional University (LPU), Lovely Autos, Lovely Sweets, and the Lovely Distance Education Centre.
