Kolkata, March 17 -- Days after removing the state's top administrative leadership, the Election Commission of India (ECI) has initiated another sweeping reshuffle, this time targeting senior and district-level police officers across West Bengal, in a move aimed at tightening poll preparedness ahead of the 2026 Assembly elections.
According to official orders, the Commission has transferred a total of six officers of Inspector General (IG) and Commissioner of Police (CP) rank, one DC level officer and 12 Superintendents of Police (SPs), marking one of the most extensive police reshuffles in recent years during an election cycle.
