Kolkata, Feb. 26 -- The Election Commission of India will be deploying a Central observer in each of West Bengal's 294 Assembly constituencies to closely monitor the pre-election nomination process.

Sources in the office of the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO), West Bengal, said the observers will be drawn either from Central government services or from state cadres outside West Bengal to ensure neutrality during the crucial pre-poll phase.

According to officials, the Commission is currently imparting training to 1,444 officers across the country.
