Chennai, April 10 -- The Election Commission of India (ECI) on Friday shunted out Greater Chennai City Police Commissioner A.Arun and appointed Abhin Dinesh Modak ahead of the Assembly polls on April 23.
In a release, EC saidI Mr Modak, ADGP, Enforcement Bureau, Chennai CID, was posted as the new Chennai city police commissioner.
The ECI also directed that Arun should not be involved in any election-related work.
The shunting out of Arun comes in the wake of demands made by parties like the TVK of actor Vijay alleging imposing several conditions for his poll campaignging.
Following the ECI order, Mr Modak assumed charge as the next City police Commissioner tonight.
