New Delhi, July 3 -- The Election Commission of India on Friday urged its media and communication machinery to play a proactive role in combating misinformation, deepfakes and other misleading content, with Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar asserting that the Commission's functioning is guided solely by the Constitution and electoral laws.
The message came during the ECI's second one-day Conference for Media and Communication Officers, attended by more than 260 Media Nodal Officers (MNOs), Social Media Nodal Officers (SMNOs), District Media Nodal Officers, District Public Relations Officers (DPROs) from 16 States and union Territories, along with senior officials from State Departments of Public Relations.
