Kolkata, March 28 -- In a significant development, the Election Commission has asked for a report from the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) of West Bengal Monoj Agarwal over alleged controversial remarks made by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee regarding central forces during a public rally.

According to the complaint, the remarks were made on March 25 at a rally held at Nandaprasad Girls' High School ground in Naxalbari, Darjeeling district where the Chief Minister allegedly warned Central Reserve Police Force (CRPF) personnel indirectly.

The chief minister also urged women to remain present at polling booths and guard the booths with household cooking implements if necessary.
