Kolkata, March 16 -- Hours after ordering the removal of the state's chief secretary and home secretary, the Election Commission of India (ECI) on Monday carried out another major administrative reshuffle ahead of the West Bengal Assembly elections, replacing the Director General of Police (DGP), the Kolkata Police Commissioner and several other senior officers.
The move is seen as part of the Commission's effort to tighten administrative oversight and ensure a neutral machinery in the run-up to the polls.
According to the Commission's directive, Piyush Pandey has been removed from the post of Director General of Police.
