Mumbai, Sept. 18 -- In a scathing attack, Congress Leader Vijay Wadettiwar has accused the Election Commission of India (ECI) of acting as a "puppet of the ruling regime," raising serious alarms over the potential disenfranchisement of over 2.66 crore voters across Maharashtra.

Addressing a press conference, the senior Congress leader alleged a systematic, targeted disenfranchisement campaign aimed at deliberately omitting voters from minority and SC-ST-dominated constituencies.

According to the Special Intensive Revision (SIR), doubts have been cast on 2,66,88,478 voters-including migrated, deceased, and duplicate entries-signalling that a staggering 21.41 per cent of the state's total electorate could be wiped off the final rolls.
