Hyderabad, Oct. 27 -- Malkajgiri MP Eatala Rajender on Tuesday alleged that toxic leachate from the Jawahar Nagar dumping yard had severely polluted Edulabad Pedda Cheruvu, destroying fish stocks and affecting the livelihoods and health of local residents.
As part of the Jana Sankalpa Yatra, Rajender visited the lake in Ghatkesar mandal of Medchal-Malkajgiri district on the first day of his four-day padayatra. Local fishermen complained that the lake, which once supported thousands of families, had become polluted, while cattle and sheep were also dying after consuming contaminated water.
