New Delhi, Nov. 3 -- India and Bahrain held the Fifth High Joint Commission (HJC) co-chaired by External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar, and his Bahraini counterpart Abdullatif bin Rashid Alzayani here today, during which the two sides focused on further enhancing the bilateral ties and cooperation.

The talks come as Bahrain is set to assume the presidency of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) at the upcoming GCC Summit in Manama in December 2025.

The GCC, comprising Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE), supplies over 60% of India's crude oil and 70% of its natural gas requirements. The GCC is also India's largest trading partner bloc. Nearly nine million Indian expatriates reside in the GCC countr...
