Kolkata, Oct. 24 -- Coochbehar police superintendent (SP) Dyutiman Bhattacharya has been removed from his post following allegations that he assaulted residents - including women and children - on the night of Kali Puja by bursting firecrackers near his official residence.
Nabanna, the state secretariat, issued the transfer order on Thursday.
Bhattacharya has been posted as Commandant of the 3rd Battalion of the State Armed Police (SAP). In his place, Sandeep Karra has been appointed the new SP of Coochbehar.
