Barasat, Oct. 22 -- A Barasat court on Thursday remanded Sheikh Rakibul Islam, a motorcycle showroom owner arrested in connection with the recovery of explosives and suspected prohibited chemicals from a vehicle at Duttapukur in West Bengal's North 24-Parganas district, to three days of police custody.
The arrest followed a joint operation involving the state police's Special Task Force (STF), the National Investigation Agency (NIA), the National Security Guard (NSG) and forensic personnel at Tentultala on Jessore Road on Wednesday night. Intercepting a vehicle on suspicion, the teams reportedly recovered around 3 kg of suspected explosive material, approximately 10 kg of splinter material and other suspicious substances.
