Shimla/Hamirpur (HP), Nov. 13 -- A 'chitta' (adulterated form of heroin) smuggler tried to crush a senior police officer under his vehicle today when the officer asked him to stop for checking.
An official spokesperson said under police station Sadar Hamirpur, on receiving the information of 'chitta' smuggling, the smuggler tried to knock down the police station incharge at Duganehadi Nalti road.
When the accused did not stop his vehicle, police station in-charge Kulwant Rana fired at the accused's vehicle, causing its tyre to puncture.
The police have identified the accused and also identified the owner of the vehicle. A case has been registered against the owner of the vehicle registered in Himachal Pradesh under the NDPS Act.
