Bangkok/Phnom Penh, Dec. 22 -- Dozens have been killed in Thailand-Cambodia border clashes, including soldiers and civilians in both countries, official data showed Monday.

Thailand's military announced that ongoing border clashes with Cambodia have left 22 Thai soldiers dead. Separately, data from Thailand's Ministry of Public Health showed 38 Thai civilians had also been killed in the multi-day conflicts.

Thai media reported that clashes between the two sides in Sa Kaeo's border zones continued into the early morning of Monday, with sporadic bursts of heavy gunfire sparking widespread panic among residents. At approximately 7 a.m., Cambodian artillery shells struck a Thai residential area, damaging homes and igniting fires.
