Kolkata, April 2 -- On Thursday afternoon, while addressing a gathering at Sagardighi in West Bengal's Murshidabad district, Trinamool Congress chairperson Mamata Banerjee urged people not to take law and order into their own hands as she apprehended that the BJP might use the situation and impose President's rule to jeopardise the election.

She condemned the gherao of the judges by some people in Malda on Wednesday. "The Election Commission of India has taken all power from me and the Chief Secretary did not bother to inform me about the incident in Malda. But do not take law and order into your hands, as that would be counterproductive. You will have to decide whether you want a peaceful election or a president's rule," she said.
