Chennai, Aug. 18 -- Senior DMK leader and former Minister EV Velu on Tuesday questioned the Tamil Nadu government's decision to rechristen the Chief Minister's breakfast scheme after former Chief Minister and Congress stalwart Kamaraj, even as the ruling TVK justified it.
The scheme was introduced during the previous DMK regime by former Chief Minister M.K.Stalin under which free breakfast would be provided to students of Classes 1 to 5 in all government and government-aided schools across the state.
After the TVK government assumed office, Chief Minister Vijay apart from expanding the scheme to students of Classes 6 to 8 taking the total beneficiaries to about 45 lakh, also renamed it as "Perunthalaivar Kamarajar Breakfast Scheme".
