Bengaluru, May 31 -- When DK Shivakumar takes oath as Karnataka's 23rd Chief Minister on June 3, he will not only assume the state's highest political office but also become the richest serving Chief Minister in India, underlining the remarkable scale of wealth amassed by one of the Congress party's most influential leaders.
According to the affidavit submitted to the Election Commission during the 2023 Karnataka Assembly elections, Shivakumar declared assets worth more than Rs 1,413 crore, comfortably surpassing Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister N Chandrababu Naidu, whose declared assets stand at around Rs 931 crore.
