Paris, May 28 -- Novak Djokovic is finding his feet on the fabled red clay in Paris, as he advanced to the third round of the French Open 2026.

Having come into Roland-Garros with just one match played on the surface this season, the Olympic champion now has a positive record after beating world No. 74 Valentin Royer 6-3,6-2, 6(7)-7, 6-3 on Wednesday.

The 39-year-old is into the third round and will face 28th seed Joao Fonseca, the Brazilian teen survived a five-set clash after being down two sets to zero early, according to olympics.com.

The opponent may come as a bit relief to the Serb star after back-to-back challenges against hometown favourites.
