Bengaluru, April 11 -- The Indian National Congress is grappling with a fresh political storm in Karnataka as simmering discontent among Muslim leaders has erupted into open dissent against Housing Minister B. Z. Zameer Ahmed Khan in the wake of the Davangere South by-election.

What began as resentment over denial of tickets to Muslim aspirants has now snowballed into a full-blown factional crisis, with sections of minority leaders accusing Zameer Ahmed of failing to rally support for party candidate Samarth Shamanur during the campaign.

Sources said an internal report submitted by AICC in-charge secretary Abhishek Dutt has flagged the infighting and warned that the visible rift among leaders could undermine the party's electoral prospect...
